Robert Downey Jr. Teases Role In Spider-Man: Homecoming

After months of rumors about the webslinger’s first standalone outing, it was confirmed by the latest incumbent that the first film in a new trilogy will be titled Spider-Man: Homecoming.

During his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, Robert Downey Jr. addressed the possibility of popping up in Spidey’s solo flick. “Perhaps I will, we don’t have a contract yet,” said Downey Jr, coyly. Despite his reluctance to give a straight answer, of all the Avengers, Tony Stark seems the one most likely to make an appearance. He is, after all, the one who reaches out to Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War, so it makes sense that he would continue his relationship with the youngster.

Either way, it sounds like the character is important to Downey Jr., as he went on to address how much the webhead means to him: “You and I both grew up [with Spider-Man]. To me, Spider-Man, that was my whole deal…He was funny, he was cool, he was young like us. She seemed ancient before and now she’s Marisa Tomei and he’s got a hot aunt. My god, just think of the possibilities.”

Spider-Man: Homecoming will fly into theaters on July 7, 2017. Before that, moviegoers will be introduced to Tom Holland’s take on the iconic character in next month’s Captain America: Civil War.
