Banyana
Banyana of South Africa booked their place in the semi-finals of this year's
Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon after defeating Egypt 5-0 in their last Group
A game on Friday. The South Africans needed an outright win to stand a chance
of advancing into the last four of the tournament after their opening day 0-0
draw against Zimbabwe and a 1-0 loss to hosts Cameroon in their second game.
The win took
South Africa's tally to four points and second in group A behind Cameroon who
finished top on nine points after beating Zimbabwe 2-0 also on Friday. South
Africa will now meet the team that finish top in Group B, on Tuesday, 29
November, while Cameroon will square off against the team that come second
also on Tuesday.
The two
teams that will qualify for the semi-finals in Group B will be
confirmed on Saturday as the Super Falcons (four points) will take on
Kenya who are already out. Ghana (four points) will do battle against Mali
(three points)
