Initial reports pointed to Johnson making a
cameo in an upcoming DC film to introduce him to audiences before he gets his
own solo outing. While there’s no confirmation just yet from Warner Bros. on
where he’ll show up, but The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit thinks it might be in James Wan’s Aquaman, which will swim
into theaters on October 5th, 2018 and may just blow
people’s minds. Kit doesn’t say how the character will be involved,
but like we mentioned above, it’ll likely be a quick cameo to get audiences
familiar with him before the Black Adam film arrives.
Most likely, this means that the character will also be
crossing paths with the other Justice League members as well, which is hugely
exciting. Just imagine seeing him alongside Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and
the rest of the gang on screen – it’ll no doubt be absolutely explosive and
we’re sure that the studio will be using him quite frequently in the years to
come.
Of course, whether or not Johnson can truly save the DC
Extended Universe remains to be seen, but bringing him in in such a large
capacity is a big step in the right direction. It sounds like he’ll have a fair
amount of creative control as well, which definitely bodes well for how Black
Adam will be portrayed in the upcoming films. Though it’s still too early to
say for sure how this will all play out, hearing about Warner Bros.’ new plans
certainly has us a bit more optimistic for the future of the DCEU.
