'Recovered body not my son' - Mother of doctor who jumped off Third Mainland Bridge tells police

The Lagos state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, has retracted his earlier statement that confirmed that the body recovered earlier today in the Lagoon is that of the 35 year old medical doctor, Allwell Oji, who committed suicide by jumping off the 3rd mainland bridge on Sunday March 19th.


Just few minutes ago, the mother also confirmed that the body recovered from the Lagoon isn't that of her son.

The state police commissioner who had initially today, told newsmen that the body found at Onikan area was that of the medical doctor, said the family members and driver have come forward to identify the body and have said that the recovered body isn't that of Allwell.

"The body was seen within the search area where the marine police was searching and when we looked at it together with the driver and some certain family members, he said that was not the body of his boss"he said
The Police however confirmed that efforts to recover the doctor's body will continue.

According to his mum, “I am hopeful that my son will be rescued by the emergency officials and not the recovery of his body.” She also stated that her son was not married but that marriage plans were on before the tragedy.
