Evander
Holyfield has donated health equipment
worth $3m (about N1bn) to the Lagos State government.
The
four-time world heavyweight champion is on a visit to the state in continuation
of its Golden Jubilee anniversary which kicked off weeks ago.
Ambode had said upon Holyfield’s arrival on Wednesday that the state government ‘will collaborate with Evander
Holyfield Foundation and its ideals to promote youth engagements through sports.‘
Holyfield, 54,
said during the conference, ‘I became the person I am because I
listened, I followed direction and I did not quit even when I lost. In giving
back to the society, I am here to say I got a Real Deal Promotion. We are
looking for young fighters who want to listen and follow instruction.
‘This
is about giving back to the society. I want kids to learn from me how I became
four times heavyweight champion,’ Holyfield added.
Holyfield
is expected to trade blows with APC chieftain Bola Tinubu during
his visit.
