Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has lamented about his
team failure to bag Champions League slot on the final day of 2016/17 Premier
League season on Sunday, but commended his players despite
the futile bid after a 3-1 win against Everton at the Emirates.
Liverpool’s 3-0 win over
relegated Middlesbrough meant Wenger
finishes outside the top four for the first time since his arrival in north
London 21 years ago. The Gunners lost captain Laurent Koscielny in the 14th minute due to a red card, but they
still dominated the game against a poor Everton side, securing three points at
the Emirates.
He said “It's frustrating to miss
out on top four, It was down to one point in the end, the total is decent if
you look at it over the years. We did the job until the end. We were remarkable
with 10 men today.”
After the FA Cup final on Saturday Arsenal will now concentrate on
strenthening their squad ahead of next season which starts on August 12, 2017
