#AHVideoAnalysis: Absolute Hearts Music Video Analysis

Just a quick reminder; Absolute Hearts Music Video Analysis is about the concept of music videos by African artistes and how it relates to the song, so the song itself might sound good but the video might not project the song in a good way. All credit or flaws goes strictly to the directors not the artiste.

So without further ado these are the video we are reviewing:

1.      Patoranking ft Wizkid – This Kind Love:  Aside from the fact that this video preaches against domestic violence amongst couple another thing I like about this video is the guy that was used to depict Patoranking, that was spot on, that of Wizkid was close but not as that of Pato. All in all Clarence did an excellent job with this video, as he gave it that reggae feel with those dance steps and those Rasta’s. Rating will be 8/10.

2.      Solidstar - International Woman: This is a beautiful song with a very bad video Toka McBaror didn’t do justice to this video at all. Why in hell would he shot in the bush or should I say forest-like part way, really I see no reason for that, yeah maybe one or two scenes might have been okay but the whole, NO, it doesn’t go well. The rating will be 4/10

3.      Zoro - Landlady: Talk about a beautiful song that has a beautiful video, from the concept to the storyline and even the colours, everything about this video is awesome. Mex did pretty well and the rating will be 9/10.

4.      Falz ft. Ycee – Something Light: This is why Clarence remains the best music video director in Nigeria, the creativity in this video is just dope. A video is actually meant to give a clear visual representation to a song and if you ask me that is what this video did to this song. From the concept, to the storyline, down to the colours everything is perfect. The rating will be 10.

5.      Olamide - WO: I have seen this video over a 100 times and I still don’t understand the issues NBC has with this video, this is a perfect street song with a perfect street video. The last time Olamide had a video like this was with Eni Duro, kudos to Unlimited LA for directing this simple but yet brilliant video. Rating will be 8/10.

6.      Timaya ft Phyno X Olamide - Telli Person: This is another video that generated another controversy, though I have to say from the first time I saw this video I got the message Phyno stylishly threw jabs at Hushpuppi but aside from that, Clarence did another good job with this video, nice visual effect and nice use of local fabrics. The rating will be 8/10.

7.      Simi - Joromi: Another beautiful song that has a beautiful video, AJE did a wonderful job with this, nice concept and nice storyline, simple and beautiful. The rating will be 9/10.

8.      Reminisce - Ponmile: Another video directed by Clarence and once again he used this video to talk against domestic violence but this time he did it perfectly. This video just makes you appreciate this song the more, exactly what a video is meant to do to a song. The rating will be 9/10.

9.      D’Banj ft. Wande Coal X Gucci Mane: This is probably the most useless video I have seen this month, I honestly don’t know where to start from. I am highly disappointed in Eif Rivera given his track record, this video falls short, this video lacks concept, no storyline and no effect whatsoever. The rating will be 3/10.
