Chairman Technical Committee of the Nigeria
Football Federation, Christopher Green
has cleared the air on Gernot Rohr's
role at the home-based Super Eagles's camp in Kano, insisting he is only
advising, while Salisu Yusuf is
fully in charge of the team.
According
to Green, Rohr is in Kano to monitor the team as well as advise the chief
coach, Salisu Yusuf, through their camping and CHAN qualification matches
against Benin republic. Green also confirmed the arrival of an expatriate
goalkeeper trainer with Rohr, Enrico
Pionetti in Kano, adding that the Italian coach will work with Aloy Agu and the four goalkeepers in
camp
He said “Salisu is in charge of the home based Super Eagles. He picked the team
and will decide who plays and who will not. Rohr is there on advisory role and
will not take charge of the team as being touted, of course, we expect Rohr, as
the national team technical adviser, to also scout for the fledgling
players who could be invited to the main Super Eagles for the World Cup clash
against Cameroon.”
