‘I am not dying’ – Veteran broadcaster and actor Sadiq Daba

Iconic broadcaster and actor Sadiq Daba has let it be known that although he is undergoing treatment for the potentially life-threatening disease, leukaemia; contrary to reports, he is not dead nor dying.

Several news outlets had reported the Kano-born actor was in the throes of death as a result of the cancer which attacks the blood and blood marrow.
However, Daba has reassured his fans that he is in no danger of death and is being treated.
Former entertainment journalist, Azuka Jebose, communicated via his Facebook page, quoting Sadiq Daba as saying ‘The leukemia has been arrested. I will be okay…’
Daba himself while replying to a comment wrote, ‘I am not dead nor dying!! God has been and will Always be faithful to me and my plight, because that is my covenant with Him !!!! My doctors have been wonderful and I am responding to treatment. …..my love and thanks to all those who have called to sympathize and empathize with me…..God bless you !!!!!!’
Sadiq Daba is one of Nigeria’s most iconic television stars, having had a long career broadcasting with the Nigerian Televison Authority. He also appeared in early soap operas such as Cockcrow At Dawn and Behind The Clouds.
He co-hosted the popular AM Express with late Yinka Craig (who died of a similar illness in 2008) and had an award winning role in Kunle Afolayan‘s October 1 in recent times.
Leukaemia is a cancer of the blood cells and has no known cure. However, with adequate medical care or a blood marrow transplant, the disease can be beaten.
