London bridge is falling
down, falling down, falling down, London bridge is falling down, my dear lady,
that's the song on Southampton's fan mouth as they defeated Chelsea over the
weekend, Chelsea tasted their fourth defeat of the current season, one more
than the whole of last season which led them to winning the league, they
currently lie in the second half of the table currently fighting relegation
battle, their match ended with Southampton handing them another defeat in their
home ground, they lost by three goals to one, after the match Chelsea coach, Jose
Mourinho was fuming saying that his team deserved a penalty which was turned
down by the referee Robert Madley.
He however has been charged
by the FA and he has about until 18:00 BST on 8 October to respond to the
charge. Speaking after Saturday's game, Mourinho said the Blues were
"always punished" by officials because "there is always a
question mark" from the media. "If the Football Association wants to
punish me they can. They don't punish other managers." Mourinho was
charged hours after Chelsea said the Portuguese retained their "full
support" after back-to-back defeats.
Other matches in the EPL saw
Everton played a score draw with their city rival, Liverpool. Liverpool drew
the first blood in the game through their forward Danny Ings as he escaped from
Ross Barkley to head in James Milner's corner past a static Everton keeper Tim
Howard, but Romelu Lukaku was once again instrumental as he pounced on Emre
Can's poor clearance to level just before half-time.
Lukaku has now scored seven goals
for Everton this season. After the match Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers spoke: "Our
mentality in the game was outstanding, the draw was the least we deserved.
Little did he know, that was the last post match interview he would grant as a
Liverpool coach, as hours later after the match he received a phone call from Fenway
Sports Group President Michael Gordon terminating his contract after three years
with the club, Brendan Rodgers has spoken of being "incredibly disappointed"
to be sacked by Liverpool but thanked the club's owners, players and fans via a
statement from the League Managers' Association (LMA). Sources have it that
Liverpool's owners, have made initial contact with former Borussia Dortmund
coach Jurgen Klopp about filling the role and that they hope to have the new
boss in place by the end of the current international break.
Manchester United also had a
bad weekend losing to Arsenal at the emirate stadium by three goals to nil,
with the three goals coming in the first half of the game, goals were scored by
Ozil and two by Alexis Sanchez to increase his tally to five goals in two
matches. United were unable to reply back throughout the second half. After the
match Arsenal Coach Arsene Wenger said " it was a good end to a difficult
week, We won our last Premier League game 5-2 and we won here 3-0 so in the
Premier League we have scored eight goals in two games against two difficult opponents.
Overall it was a convincing performance. It was a strong response against
Manchester United following our disappointment on Tuesday night. It shows the
group is very united and very strong as well and from goalkeeper to No 9
everybody played very well, which is what you want".
He also spoke on on the
sacking of Brendan Rodgers, "I’m always sad when
that happens as I think he is a quality manager. Unfortunately the pressure is
always bigger on the managers. I think what he has done at Liverpool; he was very
unlucky to not win the Premier League. He was closest certainly to winning the Premier
League in all the managers that have been working for the club but that is the
way it goes now and I wish him good luck. I’m sure he will find a
job again".
Manchester City, their city
rivals won against resurgence Newcastle side, with Aguero scoring five of his
team's goal. City won by six goals to one, after Newcastle went ahead first
through Mitrovic on the eighteenth minutes before sparking an outrage from Aguero
and Kevin de Bruyne. The Newcastle after the match said "I think we scared
them for 45 minutes and I think they scared us for the next 45 minutes,"
he said, quoted by the Chronicle. After the first half ended in a one all draw
for both sides. "I thought the first half was nigh-on perfect... If you'd have
said to me at halftime that after an hour of the game we'd be 6-1 down, I'd
have said you were absolutely crazy. "But that's what happened. We have to
assess that and look at it. We have to find out why that is," he added.

So who is next on the list to
get sack, Sunderland coach Dick Advoocat has stepped down from his role as the
club is currently lying in the 19th spot after eight games without wins and
three draws. A replacement meanwhile is on the lookout for, names that have popped
up are David Moyes, Sam Allardyce and Nigel Pearson. Who do you think will be
the best contender to fill in the position and make instant changes to the
team's dwindling future in the premier league?
