Watford forward Odion Ighalo and Chelsea’s John Mikel Obi have joined Super Eagles camp as the
numbers of invited foreign based players increased to five as Monday morning
ahead Friday’s Africa Nations qualifier against Egypt.
Aside Ighalo and Mikel, Arsenal
forward Alex Iwobi, Turkey based Aminu Umar, Uniao da Madeira’s Abdullahi Shehu had arrived the Eagles’ nest in
Abuja. According to the Nigeria Football Federation, more players are expected.
Samson Siasia’s men depart for
Kaduna on Tuesday after the morning training session at the Abuja National
Stadium, which will be open to the media.
Nigeria face Egypt on March 25, while the return leg takes place in Alexandria
on March 29. A win for the Super Eagles at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium will see
them dethrone the Pharaohs atop Group G log. Both countries missed out of the
last Afcon held in Equatorial Guinea and they would be hoping to stage a
comeback in Gabon 2017.
