
He said “They had a longtime to register and they were, you know, unaware of the rules, and they didn't, they didn't register in time, they feel very guilty, but it's fine. I understand that. I think they have to register a year in advance and they didn't. So Eric and Ivanka, I guess, won't be voting”. In New York, voters have to register as Democratic or Republican months before election day. This year, people had to register by October 9, 2015, in order to be able to vote. However, despite their inability to actually cast a vote, both Ivanka and Eric have been active in helping support and campaign alongside their father.
When he first announced his bid for candidacy, the two of them and their older brother, Donald Trump Jr., released the following statement: “He is a brilliant negotiator with a proven track record of getting things done. Most importantly, he is an incredible dad and role model. He raised us to work hard and strive for excellence in all that we do. We love and respect him very much”.
Ivanka has also expressed her pride for her father, telling Fortune, “I'm incredibly proud of him. As a citizen, I love what he's doing. As a daughter, it's obviously more complicated because the level of interest and scrutiny is beyond anything I've ever experienced and I think, that's, I guess, to be expected”
