David O. Russell’s TV Show

David O. Russell‘s got a TV show in the works, and he’s now recruited Robert De Niro and Julianne Moore to star in it. While details are scarce at the moment, the outlet believes it’s a crime/cop thriller set in the 90s and is being designed to run for multiple seasons.

Being produced by Megan Ellison of Annapurna Pictures, who worked with Russell on American Hustle and Joy, the show is expected to net a series order and is currently looking at cable networks and streaming services to find a home. Nothing has been set in stone just yet, but it’s clear that this is a very hot project. It’s not hard to see why, either, given the talent involved.

Speaking of talent, while TV was once considered something that A-list actors would often stay away from, we’re starting to see more and more of Hollywood’s finest dipping their toes into the world of television. That’s mostly thanks to the success that companies like HBO and Netflix have seen with their programming, but also because when it comes down to it, TV is offering up more quality entertainment than cinema is – at least, lately.
