Rebecca Ferguson On Board For Musical Biopic Greatest Showman

Rebecca Ferguson has landed a role opposite Hugh Jackman in the upcoming P.T. Barnum musical biopic The Greatest Showman. Ferguson now joins a starry cast comprised of Jackman, Zac Efron, Michelle Williams and Zendaya.

The report goes on to reveal that Rebecca Ferguson has clinched the role of Swedish opera singer Jenny Lind, with Hugh Jackman primed to take point as P.T. Barnum. Often cited as the founder of the modern circus, Barnum made a name for himself across the travelling Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, and thanks to roles in Pan and Les Miserables, Jackman ought to excel as the flamboyant pioneer. Elsewhere, Zac Efron is in line to play Jackman’s right-hand man who falls for Zendaya’s skilled trapeze artist. Michelle Williams, meanwhile, has been billed as love interest to Jackman’s character.

Michael Gracey is the director currently attached to The Greatest Showman, with Fox reportedly angling the feature for release in 2017. With no word of a production start date, though, it’ll be some time yet before we have firm confirmation.
