Sergio Aguero becomes the fifth player to score five goals in a single Premier League Match.
Manchester City were in high mood against Newcastle
and Argentina striker Aguero was the man of the match has he
scored five goals in just 20
minutes and 27 seconds as City
demolished Newcastle 6-1 at the Etihad.
Aguero's five-goal haul is the fastest in Premier League history after levelling
the score with his first in the 42nd minute and his fifth coming in the 62nd.
Aguero joins
the likes of Andy Cole, Alan Shearer,
Jermain Defoe and Dimitar Berbatov
on the short list players to achieve the feat in the Premier League era. Cole was the first player to score five
in one game when he put Ipswich to
the sword as Manchester United ran
out 9-0 winners in March 1995. Alan Shearer
was the next man to hit five in a Premier League game as Newcastle beat Sheffield
Wednesday 8-0 in September 1999. Defoe
took only 36 minutes to grab five against Wigan
at White Hart Lane in November 2009
as Tottenham ran out 9-1 winners and
Berbatov also hit five against Blackburn
as Manchester united won 7-1.
Aguero who had
not scored in the Premier League since the second weekend of the season is now
just one goal behind this season's leading scorer Jamie Vardy.
