Australian Open Updates

British No 1's Andy Murray and Johanna Konta will both be eyeing quarter-final spots at the Australian Open on Monday.

The Scot stretched his unbeaten run against Australian players to 15 official matches by dispatching Sam Groth in the second round and he will get the opportunity to extend that streak when he takes on 16th seed Bernard Tomic for a last eight berth. Tomic reached the last 16 in Melbourne for the third time by beating compatriot John Millman to become the last surviving Australian man at the tournament. The winner of the match will take on either dogged Spaniard David Ferrer or American John Isner, who collide on Hisense Arena.

2014 Champion Stan Wawrinka, who qualified for the fourth round for the fourth straight year would also be in action against big-hitting Canadian Milos Raonic. “He's a tough player, for sure. Never lost to him, but it's always been a tough match. He's been playing really good since the beginning of the year, winning the first title in Brisbane against Roger Federer in the final. He's trying to improve. He's trying to win big titles. It will be a difficult match. In general, I always find some solution to break his serve, even though it's really tough. We'll see. Hopefully, I can be ready and be strong enough to take that one” the Swiss star said about his opponent.

Women’s Update
Johanna Konta beat Denisa Allertova 6-2 6-2 to become the first British woman to reach the fourth round in 29 years and set up a clash with Russia's Ekaterina Makarova, who ousted Czech player Karolina Pliskova. Konta, who defeated eighth seed Venus Williams in the first round, also matched her best Grand Slam performance set at the US Open in September.

Victoria Azarenka continues her quest for a third Australian Open title against Czech Barbora Zahlavova Strycova while in an all-German battle Angelique Kerber takes on Annika Beck. Rising American talent Madison Keys faces China's Zhang Shuai, who has already upset France's Alize Cornet and American Varvara Lepchenko.
