Man City Season Ticket Prices Could Trigger Walk-Out

Manchester City supporters club 1894 Group have justified their decision not to call for a boycott of the Blues' upcoming game against West Bromwich Albion, but warned that ticket prices at the Etihad Stadium could trigger a future mass walk-out.

City fans have grown increasingly frustrated with the Premier League side's pricing strategy in recent years, an issue which is now coming to a head after it was announced that tickets to attend the Champions League quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain will cost up to £60. That decision sparked a furious backlash on Twitter and both 1894 Group and influential fan-run website City Watch released statements warning, in the latter's case, that supporters would turn their backs on the club.

1894 Group did insist in their statement that they would not call on supporters to walk out of the West Brom match, a tactic which proved successful on Merseyside when Liverpool fans flooded out of Anfield in the 77th minute of their league game with Sunderland in protest at plans to raise certain prices to £77.

The Blues are yet to announce their season ticket prices for next season, with many of their rivals having already frozen or even reduced costs, and the club initially voted against a Premier League proposal to cap away tickets at £30, a motion which was eventually passed unanimously.
