Extended X-Men: Apocalypse Clip Reveals The Origin Story Of Cyclops

The first reviews for X-Men: Apocalypse are proving to be pretty mixed so far, but one character who seems to be faring well is Cyclops. Played by James Marsden in the original X-Men trilogy, that version of the hero received a fairly tepid response from comic book fans, so it’s a relief to hear that director Bryan Singer has handled him a little better this time around.

That’s something which is evident from the clip above, as we see Scott Summers discovering that he’s a mutant. Him losing control in a school isn’t all that different to how a younger version of the hero was introduced in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but it’s doubtful that Singer is taking too many cues from that movie in X-Men: Apocalypse, especially as it’s no longer in continuity.

Regardless, this new clip is a pretty interesting look at how the events of X-Men: Days of Future Past have changed the world. It’s also worth noting that this Cyclops has a bit more of an edge to him and seems to be something of a troublemaker, though that matches up with comments from both the director and actor that we’ve heard over the past few months.
