Lupita Nyong’o Talks Details Of Black Panther

From director Ryan Coogler outlining the origin story of  T’Challa to the comic book influences that will have a bearing on the 2018 spinoff, excitement is gradually beginning to swell for Coogler’s first crack at a superhero feature. Much of that buzz stems from the stellar cast that Marvel has assembled, which added Danai Gurira over the weekend.

Enlisting in Dora Milaje alongside Lupita Nyong’o, it’s understood Gurira will play Okoye, with Nyong’o assuming the role of Nakia. Speaking of which, the latter actress offered up new details relating to the core plot of Black Panther and, as you would imagine, the Oscar-winner is careful to skate around potential spoilers for a movie that is yet to enter active production.

Nyong’o  said “The story of this Black Panther is — what am I allowed to say? – The story is that the Black Panther’s leadership is really threatened by two foes who come together, and so Black Panther gets the help of the C.I.A. and the Dora Milaje to try and defeat the enemy.”

Production on Black Panther is expected to get underway in the early stages of 2017, with Marvel aligning the Chadwick Boseman-fronted offshoot for theatrical release on July 6, 2018.
