Update On Doctor Strange

Rumours surfacing for Marvel’s Doctor Strange is that Jericho Drumm (AKA Brother Voodoo) holds a small cameo role in Scott Derrickson’s origin story. Not only that, but it appears as though James Gunn has been dropping hints about the movie’s connection to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

First up, the supposed involvement of one Brother Voodoo. Pointing to a Doctor Strange prequel comic, The Hashtag Show reports that early on in Derrickson’s feature – likely during the intense training process – Strange will nod to some of the Sorcerer Supreme’s fellow magicians, including Tina Minoru and Voodoo himself. It’ll be brief, though, with Marvel seemingly aiming to tee up the context and backstory of Strange’s world without directly stealing attention away from Benedict Cumberbatch’s lead.

Elsewhere, soon after unveiling some appropriately stellar concept art for Guardians 2, James Gunn offered up some new information regarding the beast in question, stating, “It’s a multidimensional being. The Guardians have been hired to fight him.”

With November 4 fast approaching, Marvel recently drafted in Community creator Dan Harmon to help contribute to “additional photography” on Doctor Strange, though the extent of those reshoots is currently unknown.

Doctor Strange will introduce Benedict Cumberbatch as Marvel’s Sorcerer Supreme on November 4. He’s set to play a major part in the MCU going forward and, at least based on those eye-popping trailers, he’ll be headlining one of, if not the most bizarre MCU origin story to date.
