It was in a recent interview Walter Jones who played the Black Ranger in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, he confirmed that neither he nor his castmates have heard anything about making any sort of appearance in the movie, which will assemble a brand new team made up of mostly unknowns. He said “It’s not likely. Unfortunately, we were not invited to be part of the film, which is confusing to me, but I’m excited about the film nevertheless.”
Cameos like this also often feel shoehorned in for the sake of it, so it’s hard to condemn director Dean Israelite for not going down that route. There’s still time to squeeze them in though, so Jones and other previous cast members could end up being surprised along with the fans.
Power Rangers stars Dacre Montgomery as Jason the Red Ranger, RJ Cyler as Billy the Blue Ranger, Naomi Scott as Kimberly the Pink Ranger, Becky G as Trini the Yellow Ranger and Ludi Lin as Zack the Black Ranger. Rounding out the cast are Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa and Bryan Branston as Zordon. The movie is currently set to be released on March 24th, next year.
