It all started like a joke but six months after that very day, the future was bright, they could feel it, an idea that came as a joke had started making them famous and was about to earn them their first millions. As it was hard to believe, the feeling that their lives was changing for the better was also overwhelming, there was no doubt about their ability but the possibilities of them having this much success within a year was a surprise to them yet they stuck their guns out and risked it.
After one week of being certain that they were all in
the clear, they started to execute the plans they had made concerning how to
spend and invest the money. Yes given the current economy situation what kind
of business they would invest 400k into that would give returns quickly, they agreed on using 100k on all kind of shopping, so yes they were hell
bent on making early returns on the 400k investment. All kind of ideas were
bouncing around their heads; from Agriculture to ICT down to Bet Agent which
was the best idea they agreed with and would have pursued if only they had
not met Sunday.
Sunday is a friend, always having this ideology that
he is the smartest guy in the room, if I was to talk in cliché well I'd say he
his smart but ariwo ko ni music. But
then again if you look at the kind of risk he is willing to take then you would
understand his pride to always want to feel that way. Sunday told them about MMM a Ponzi scheme that he
was already into and was earning him mad
cash just like he said. Guys I dey
tell una, nothing sure pass MMM just put 20k and after one month you get your
20k back plus 30% profit, I mean isn’t that awesome?. They both gave same
answer which was the fact that they would think about it and get back to him.
While they were trying to sort out the cloth they
had bought this conversation occurred between them
Nova:
So Guy, how you see
this MMM thing wey Sunday dey talk about
Okafor:
Well
I won’t lie I have heard about it, there is this girl way I dey toast na she dey tell me about am but my own honest
opinion is that I don’t believe in such thing, what if it crashes or they lock
up shop and say they aren’t doing again what happens to all the money there.
Nova:
Hmm
that's true but then again the fact that Sunday sounded confident about it, don’t
you think we should try it out?.
Okafor:
Guy,
when it comes to taking risk and gambling you know Sunday is always confident
about his odd
Nova:
So
what do you suggest?
Okafor:
Well I would say this, if you feel it's something that would work we can take 20k
and give it a try and if it works out well then we can now add more money
That was it for them, they started with 20k and
after the first month the collected 60k and without thinking twice the next
pledge they made was 100k and just like that they were all in. They were
enjoying the returns MMM was bringing in but Okafor being the sceptical one made
sure they didn’t put their head into one basket as they invest the money in
other business, the first millions they collected from MMM went into pure water
business and just like that their lives changed for the better.
Looking back at how their lives had turn around Nova
would always thank God that he took the road where the accident occurred and
talking about the accident, Nova still thinks about what would have befalling
the man that he took the money from, there are times he would buy a newspaper
or even watch the news just to see if the story of the man would appear or come
up but nothing. There was even a time he decided to go back to the station and
pretend to be a reporter that came to cover the story to see what the police
would say about but after 6 months no news about the man, he felt all was good
so he left the quest of finding the man though he still carry that guilt that
his action might have ruined another person’s life.
I love this series
