More Community Cameos For Avengers: Infinity War

Though it’s still quite a ways away, Avengers: Infinity War has been grabbing an awful lot of headlines lately. From the hints that it may feature a new character to a semi-confirmation that the Guardians of the Galaxy will be appearing in the film, there’s been no shortage of news surrounding the upcoming Marvel effort.

That hype train doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon, either, as directors Joe and Anthony Russo have revealed some interesting new tidbits in a recent interview with IGN. There’s nothing terribly substantial here, but they do mention that their Community cameos will continue in the upcoming superhero flick. If you recall, Jim Rash featured in Captain America: Civil War and Danny Pudi was seen in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Though he wouldn’t say which actors from their hit TV show would be showing up this time around, Joe Russo did confirm that they’re planning to keep the streak alive.

Joe said “We’ve got to keep the streak going, we’re literally in that phase of the pre-production where we start thinking about those kinds of things and right now we’re looking for the right part to see who’s a match for the next cameo.”

Further in the interview, Anthony added “We love ensembles, that’s part of what we love about our Marvel work as well, so the fact that we get to carry that process forward into Avengers: Infinity War, and not only carry it forward but at a scale and a scope that we’ve never even attempted before in those films, because those films are so much intended to be a culmination of everything that’s unfolded in the MCU up until this point. Adding new heroes created an opportunity for characters who didn’t have to shoulder that narrative to show up in the movie and be much more whimsical and light and spontaneous and unencumbered by the weightiness of the overall narrative. From the point of view of Joe and I, we think about all of these movies as a continuity. The story that we told in Winter Soldier set the basis for the story we told in Civil War, and the story that we told in Civil War is again laying the groundwork for the story that we’re going to tell in Avengers: Infinity War. For us, there’s a narrative continuity between the movies, and each movie is in many ways setting the stage for the ones that follow. For us, we have a very specific through-line for all those films.”
