‘‘My mother didn’t take it lightly with me’ – Ireti Doyle on getting pregnant at 17

Nollywood actress, Iretiola Doyle, has stated how she wasn’t supported by her family after getting pregnant in her teenage years. Doyle revealed she got pregnant at the age of 17, and had a hard time coping as her mother especially became cold towards her.

The veteran actress went on to say it was having people around her who showed her some love that got her through the tough period.

‘You have to surround yourself with people who love and support you. I was blessed to have people around me; unfortunately these people are not family members.

‘My mother didn’t take it lightly with me,’ Doyle added, ‘I wouldn’t have handled it the way she did because I belong to a different generation.

‘I was nurtured by people I met and they constantly reminded me that my life didn’t end with that bad situation.’
