Hip Hop Duo Remix Their Hit Album Using Cat Sounds

The Hip hop duo of Run the Jewels re-released their second studio album by remixing the songs so as to include noises sampled directly from cats only.

The project started off when a fan set up the Kickstarter campaign asked the duo to remix some of their songs with cat sounds. Immediately the fundraising goal of $45,000 was met, Run the Jewels then agreed to remix the whole of their album and revealed that a host of high profile names were interested in taking part.

The album which is now named Meow the Jewels includes all the tracks from the original album Run the Jewels 2 and features the work of artists and producers such as Snoop Dog, Just Blaze and Prince Paul. Sales from the limited edition LP will go to good causes as the group has chosen to donate the funds to charities benefiting the families of Michael brown and Eric Garner.

El-P tweeted this after announcing that Meow the Jewels has been release “Did we make the silliest, occasionally most grating possible remix album? Of course. And we did it for you, Mike Brown and Eric Garner”.
