The gold bikini that was worn by actress Carrie Fisher when she played
Princess Leia in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi has sold at auction for
$96,000.
Star Wars designer Richard Miller provided a certificate to authenticate
the piece and prove it was genuine.
Fisher disliked the costume even though it became a huge hit with fans
and spawned multiple parodies and imitations after the film released, saying:
“She gets to be more feminine, more supportive, more affectionate. But let’s
not forget that these movies are basically boys’ fantasies. So the other way
they made her more female in this one was to have her take off her
clothes".
