New Mutants Update From Producer Simon Kinberg

 

Producer Simon Kinberg has provided an interesting update on the progress of Fox’s planned X-Men spinoff, New Mutants as he talks about the script, and also teased which characters we might see on the junior  X-team.

Kinberg revealed that Josh Boone and his writing partner are currently hard at work on the script, and that the movie is shaping up to be something unique to the X-Men universe in much the same way Deadpool was. He said “They’re doing a really nice job of it, and it’s a really cool one, because in many ways, like Deadpool was so different from the mainline X-Men movies, New Mutants… It’s maybe not as different as Deadpool, but it has its own unique, original voice to it. That’s the fun for me, working in the X-Men universe, creating these sort of standalone movies that have a different vibe to them. And New Mutants has more of a Young Adult vibe to it”.

As far as which characters we might see, Kinberg strongly hints that at least a few members of the team will be young mutants we’ve met in previous X-flicks. He said “Traditionally, the New Mutants have some characters that cross over from the mainline X-Men movies. As we are going, I would say it’s likely that you will see some familiar faces”.
