We Capitalised On Warri Wolves’ Weaknesses - Abdu Maikaba

Abdu Maikaba head coach of Wikki Tourists has disclosed that his players exploited Warri Wolves loss of concentration to record their best league win of the season thus far in their rescheduled NPFL Week 6 tie played at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi on Wednesday which ended 4-0.

The Bauchi side stunned the Seasiders 4-0 despite leading only 1-0 at halftime and Maikaba has now revealed that the decision of their visitors to go out in search of the equalizer without adequate cover in defence left them exposed and it paved the way for his players to get more goals. He said “We made use of our opponents’ loss of concentration to get three goals in the second half after we led 1-0 at halftime. They wanted to get the equalizer and left their defence in tatters and we were grateful for this because it gave us the chance to add more goals to seal the match. It was a difficult match despite the big scores. They were a tough side and had they made a success out of their forays into our area, the result of the match would have been different. We were not happy about our last weekend result. We had lots of discussions and I am delighted that this paid off”.

Wikki’s win saw them leap to third on the log with 15 points from nine matches.  The Bauchi side will tackle Lobi Stars next in Makurdi in a NPFL Week 10 tie slated for April 6.
