X-Men: Apocalypse Is The #1 Movie In The World

The Angry Birds Movie has performed a little better than expected this weekend after debuting in North America and knocking Captain America: Civil War from the top of the domestic box office, but after opening in 71 overseas locations, it’s actually X-Men: Apocalypse which is the #1 movie in the world a week before it reaches the US.

With an impressive haul of $103.3 million, the Bryan Singer-helmed release is expected to reach upwards of $750 million when all is said and done. That’s a pretty impressive haul, but probably not what Fox were hoping for after spending upwards of $250 million on the film. It’s important to remember though that it has yet to reach other key countries like China and Korea, and that’s certainly more than enough to guarantee that another movie will happen in the near future, more than likely with Bryan Singer back behind the camera. Plus, don’t forget that this is the sixth instalment in the franchise not counting all those spinoffs, something which makes both of these numbers extremely impressive.

It’ll be interesting to see both how much X-Men: Apocalypse has earned by the time it reaches the US and what its opening weekend haul ends up being, but if there’s one thing that’s for sure, it’s that those mediocre reviews don’t seem to have hurt the film’s box office business.
