Avengers: Infinity War Be Could Be Retitled

We already know that Avengers: Infinity War is going to be retitled, Joe and Anthony Russo confirmed it back while they were doing the press rounds for Captain America: Civil War. What they didn’t tell us, however, is what the new title for the film would be.

Now we’re hearing from ComicBookMovie.com that the studio has seemingly taken a page out of DC’s book when it comes to subtitles and has dropped the Infinity War, instead calling the first installment of the two-parter Avengers 3. Logic dictates that its sequel will go under the moniker Avengers 4, though there was no mention of that in the report.

While using a subtitle does work in some cases, Marvel has seen a lot of success without one as well. Avengers 3 may not be quite as exciting as Avengers: Infinity War and it certainly gives no hint as to what the film’s plot is about, but at this stage, Marvel doesn’t really need to lure people in with intriguing subtitles and what not. Infinity War, or Avengers 3, whatever it ends up being called, is going to be one of the biggest films of all-time, regardless of its title.

The studio hasn’t commented on the official moniker just yet, but with production about to gear up later this year, we’ll no doubt hear something on the matter soon.
