Star Trek Beyond Beams Onto Latest Empire Magazine Cover

If Star Wars fans have flocked to Entertainment Weekly’s latest issue to catch up on all of the happenings with Gareth Edwards’ Rogue One, then Empire has piqued the interest of Trekkies near and far after unveiling its latest and striking cover that features Star Trek Beyond.

Similar in style to the artwork that surfaced during the franchise’s 50th anniversary celebrations last month, the cover art brings together Chris Pine (Kirk), Zachary Quinto (Spock) and Sofia Boutella as newcomer and amicable alien, Jaylah. With a ship in ruins and a crew scattered across a remote alien world, things aren’t going too well for Starfleet’s finest, and the more recent trailers and TV spots have only served to drum up the tension ahead of the blockbuster’s arrival in little under a month’s time.

In a recent interview, Zoe Saldana outlined the gruelling fight that awaits: We’re tired, we need time off, we’ve been working non-stop, and it’s become like a machine where you kind of forget about yourself, but you need to go back home and nurture yourself and rest. Life has a different journey for us, and instead of us having to go out and aid another population, another planet that has been the target of violence, we are the target, so this is very different. We are tested at the craziest level and not just our lives are tested, but our characters and our relationships are tested.”

Also starring Idris Elba, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, John Cho and the late Anton Yelchin – who tragically passed away only last week – Star Trek Beyond beams into theaters in time for July 22.
