Do not rub your success in anyone's face - Emma Ugolee

Read below:

Me and ‘my guy’ once dated two friends who worked in the same bank in 2006.
We learnt the hard way ‘why birds of the same feather flock together’ as these girls ‘showed us pepper’. Fully air-conditioned one chance bus we boarded.
Well, me I got off the bus two weeks later. No time abeg.

My home boy wasn’t so lucky. Love struck, he was stuck for months spending so hard to impress a girl who found subtle ways to show him he was out of her league yet would keep him as a side guy.

In 2009, he went on to marry a gorgeous dream wife and 2016 has him living the life. He has done too well for himself.

Just last week my guy confessed to keeping four bank accounts but admitted that all his major earnings and savings were put in one bank. The same bank where his ex worked as his account officer.

‘Why?’ I curiously asked.

‘I hear say she dey check constantly. So as the mills dey rise. Make her heart dey cut’… was his reply.

Many share this petty mentality of ‘look at me now’ when things turn differently from what adversaries hoped for. Eating not because they are hungry but because they need to be seen by those who didn’t think they would eat.

Please master the art of moving on, proving points post parting ways is a sign that hurt lingers and that your perception of forgiveness is still immature.

‘Vengeance is mine’ includes that you do not rub your success in anyone’s face. Do not wish that any stays down. It not only steals precious time but hampers freedom to grow.

I personally permit my mind to flash for a few seconds periodically and generally around all of you who have ever left me for dead, kicked me while I was down or said malicious things behind me that reflects a state of mind that doesn’t hope for good for me, but this is strictly for the fuel, the extra reason to keep pushing.

I do not keep particular individuals at heart. I do not work hard so they can see, I work hard so I can be fulfilled and happy with where my life is. Knowing at the back of my mind that some people don’t want this to happen is just extra kerosene on my fire to work not the essence itself of my work.

So next time your dp changes because you want a contact to see how far you are coming along with your progress. Please stop and unchain yourself from the bondage of ‘point proving’.

Nobody is worth it. That’s just way too much power in the hands of someone else.
Please let it go!
