British Fashion Council Name Willow and Jaden Smith New Fashion Icon 2016

 

Willow and Jaden Smith have been awarded the New Fashion Icons Award at the 2016 Fashion Awards hosted by the British Fashion Council. Previously known as the British Fashion Awards, the Swarovski-sponsored event is celebrating its 27th year of honoring fashion icons. The event itself also serves as a fundraiser which will raise money for the British Fashion Council's Education Foundation, which provides scholarship money to emerging talents looking to pursue fashion.

This year's festivities also celebrated designer Ralph Lauren by presenting him with the Outstanding Achievement Award for his work in the global fashion industry. While this is the first award for the duo, this is not the first time the famous Smith siblings have been recognized for their unique style.

Just earlier this year Jaden made headlines by stepping out in a dress and later sharing a photo of a new dress on Instagram with the caption Went To TopShop To Buy Some Girl Clothes, I Mean 'Clothes.'  Both of these shots came after the 18-year-old modeled skirts for Louis Vuitton back in January and received great praise from Louis Vuitton director Nicolas Ghesquière.

And after becoming one of Chanel's brand ambassadors at just 16-years-old, Willow has proved that she is a fashion force to be reckoned with, even adding the title of designer to her resume after the summer release of her own hand-designed T-shirt that sold through her brother's website.

Jaden, who attended the event alone, accepted the award on behalf of both himself and his younger sister.
