Every guy
has a go-to date outfit: a nice pressed shirt, a blazer, or a button-down that
shows your "adventurous" side. That's fine. But when it's
hot out, all of that should be kicked out. The key thing to worry about is just
staying cool in the heat. Also, let's face it — you'll probably be pretty
nervous. Those two combined can turn into a pretty sweaty time.
So ditch your
"typical" outfit and go as simple as possible: a plain, high-quality
T-shirt. Think it's too casual and won't make an impression? Think again. Not
only will you keep cool, but in the eyes of the opposite sex you'll look cool
too. We call that a win-win.
Now, here are a few tips on a few T-shirt you shouldn't
wear when going on a date:
Meme or slogan shirts
Slogan
shirts or meme shirts, especially those that are telling whoever is reading your shirt
to keep calm and ... whatever the rest of the shirt says, makes no one feel
anything but calm. Any sartorially savvy man knows that shirts shouldn't have
words on them, unless they are promoting a cause. Instead, stick to a plain
shirt that says way more than one with words sprawled across the front.
Anything that's oversized or too big for you
If you have any shirts —
dress or tee's — that are way too big on you and not tailored to fit your body
shape, then don't wear them to a date. One of the most important components to
dressing well is having clothes that fit you
properly.
The Hawaiian-inspired shirt
Although the style has been
around for a while, we still say that besides beach outings to be taken seriously in any aspect of your life, you
need to ditch the Hawaiian-inspired shirt. It's the equivalent of looking like
you're constantly on vacation, so we like the idea of the shirt in theory but
not so much in real life. You can do so much better with subtle print shirts.
A side-cut T-shirt
If you have a good body
people are going to notice. It's not like a T-shirt or a regular tank top leave
that much to the imagination. Men don't titillate anyone by showing off their
sides, so either cover up or be super obnoxious and go shirtless.
