#StoryTuesday: Memories (Episode Nine)

We started another story series titled Memories, here is the link to Episode Eight in case you missed it. Read the third episode below;
While Anthony did everything he could to make her remember him and remember what they share together, her mother and sister also did their own part in making sure she remembered him. After she was discharged from the hospital it was advised to go home with her mother, well she actually insisted that she wanted to go home with her mother; according to her “I can’t be sleeping in a man’s house that I barely remember”.

Based on the doctor’s advice Anthony didn’t go her see her for two weeks after she was discharged from the hospital, the doctor felt giving her some time and space alone might also help her recover the memory but that wasn’t the case, those memories of her loving Anthony and getting married to him were mere of stories to her as she couldn’t remember anything and this was the beginning of the end of their marriage.

Six months after leaving the hospital, she and Anthony went out on a date, by this time Anthony had given up on trying to make her remember who he was, instead, he felt starting with her afresh and making her fall in love with him all over might just do the trick, so he started their relationship from scratch and was taking things slow.  But everything he did, she saw it as him just trying to make her remember the past even though Anthony was just trying to create a new memory.

So while on their third date after she was discharged from the hospital, she decided to tell him how she felt exactly. It wasn’t something she wanted to say because she knew how hurt he was going to be and to be honest she had also wanted to remember everything they shared together. The stories they (her mum, her sister and Anthony) all told her about her she and Anthony were happy together, the pictures she saw, most especially her wedding pictures, she really wanted to be that girl, but it wasn’t just happening and she was really getting tired of dwelling in the past and that exactly how she feels any time she sees Anthony.

I know what I’m about to say isn’t what you would be hoping to hear but it is the truth and I think you really deserve that because you are an amazing person,” she said to him after they had finished eating their meal. “I really do appreciate everything you have done for me in the past six months, even what you did while I was at the hospital; I really appreciate because I know you did this out of love which is why it pains me to say this”.

She takes a deep pause as she continues to stare in his eyes just maybe something would spark in her and she will remember everything but nope, nothing, there was no spark. “The more I see your face the more I feel like I’m being forced to remember something I have no memory of and before you speak, I know you haven’t tried to make me remember anything instead you are trying to create new memories which I can only imagine how hard that must be for you but trust me when I say it’s harder for me because the more I spend time with you the more it feels like I’m trying to live in the past, a past I honestly don’t remember, which is why I would beg and ask you that we stop seeing each other”.
