Nigeria's prestigious musical award, The Headies has come and gone with all its glitz and glamour. The event started late in the evening yesterday January 1st and ran into early morning Saturday 2nd of January. The event, which was hosted by Kaffi and Bovi, featured musical performances from Majek
Fashek, Simi, Falz, Harrysong, Reminisce, Vector, Timi Dakolo, Adekunle Gold and a couple other Nigerian artistes.
MTN Plus next rated Award: Landy Akanchawa
Early in the event, Eva got engaged on stage while she was performing, while some people think it was a publicity stunt, some others think it was real as Eva looked surprised about the whole scenario. Timi Dakolo was the biggest winner this year bagging three awards, other moments from the event are a reminder for the release of the abducted Chibok girls by Vector, the epic freestyle from Harrysong (Harrysong also used the opportunity to announce his new ambassadorial deal with the sausage brand Gala) and the controversy that broke on stage between Don Jazzy and Olamide in what seems like the beginning of a real beef. (read about the stage drama between Olamide and Don Jazzy after the winners list).

The Olamide & Don Jazzy Drama
Now it all started when Adekunle Gold was accompanied on stage by all YBNL acts including label boss Olamide to get the Best Alternative Song award, after giving Adekunle Gold the award, Olamide then took the mic and said in a tone that shows he was angry that Reekado Banks was awarded Next Rated 'this award is for Lil Kesh because we all know he is the next rated, releasing hits back to back from Lyrically to Shoki to Efejoku'. (Little reminder that the next rated winner goes home with a brand new Hyundia saloon car).
This didn't go down well with Don Jazzy as he threw a shot on Olamide while he was on stage to collect his recognition award, he said 'I don't like awards, I have always said it, I only came out here to support my children. Egbon Olamide if you want the car, come and collect it'.
This made Olamide vexed as he refused to come out for his Artiste of The Year award

Immediately after Don Jazzy's speech, Olamide went on twitter to take few hard shots at Don Jazzy, check out one of the several tweets below
As expected, Twitter has been on fire wading into the beef between the two music big names. While some people took sides with Olamide, saying that Donjazzy should not have mentioned him on stage and that Olamide’s rant was directed at the Headies organizers not Donjazzy, others have condemned Olamide’s behaviour. The drama continues........
