Con artist. Trickster. Criminal. Lawyer?
Whatever moniker you ascribe to Bob
Odenkirk’s dastardly hustler, few TV characters hold a candle to Jimmy
McGill. Across two fairly successful seasons of Better
Call Saul, viewers have become
acquainted with Odenkirk’s bumbling lawman in his rise to prominence, and
though it’s unlikely to ever reach the dizzying heights of its forebear, Breaking
Bad, AMC’s prequel spinoff series
boasts all of Vince Gilligan’s arresting hallmarks – multi-layered
storytelling, flashforwards, and a whole heap of nail-biting drama.
As we teeter on the brink of the show’s
third season, AMC is beginning to ramp up its marketing push for Better Call Saul season
3, beginning with Odenkirk’s criminal/lawyer posing for a mugshot. A sullen,
downbeat expression indicates that Slippin’ Jimmy has once again found himself
in the eye of the storm, with all signs pointing to a fallout between him and
his older sibling, Chuck (Michael McKean).
A frank, honest confession from Jimmy
seemingly wasn’t enough to heal their brotherly bond following the events of
season 2, and given McKean’s character secretly recorded Jimmy’s blunt speech
tees up a fascinating arc going into season 3. Expect a satisfying payoff,
then, but will this season bring Better Call Saul closer to its inevitable curtain call?
Or do you believe AMC’s offshoot has the necessary mileage to run for
additional seasons? Speculate with us below.
Better Call Saul season 3 is earmarked to premiere via AMC in spring 2017.
Comprised of 10 episodes in total.
