Enyimba are new table toppers

The NPFL is changing its leader week in, week out as the Enyimba sits on top of the table with 45 points and this was due to the loss of Sunshine Stars lost to Dolphins

The midweek matches saw four home wins, two goal less draws and the other set of four matches will be played next week Wednesday, the reason the other eight teams didn't play is because four of the NPFL teams have Semi-finals games against each other.

Summary of the midweek games

Heartland FC got there first away win against Kwara United, the goal came from Jimoh Oni in the 37minute of the game, the game ended with the same score line from the first half. Jimoh Oni has a total of 3goals which were all against Kwara United FC.

Abia Warriors were beaten 2-0 by Wikki Tourists in Bauchi with Mubarak Umar getting both goals for the side. Mubarak Umar is now Wikki Tourists' joint top scorer with Godwin Obaje. Wikki Tourists are the second team to complete a double against Abia Warriors.

Jonathan Zikiye scored the winner in spectacular fashion for Dolphins who eased their relegation worries after the hard-fought win over Kennedy Boboye’s men. Dolphins are now unbeaten in their last seven home league matches against Sunshine Stars with five wins and two draws from the past seven encounters between the two teams. Sunshine still remains 2nd with 43points as they lost their leading position to Enyimba.

Warri Wolves maintained third spot drawing 0-0 away to El-Kanemi WarriorsIkechukwu Ibenegbu was sent off becoming the second player to get sent off twice this season after Giwa FC's Jimmy Ambrose.

Taraba United and Bayelsa United match didn't yield any goal as both teams were unlucky. Taraba United hit the woodwork thrice and Bayelsa keeper Gambo also stood in their way of scoring. Bayelsa United are now without a win in seven NPFL matches, their longest in the league in over a decade

Six-time champions Enyimba have returned to the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) standings after a 1-0 win over champions Kano Pillars on Wednesday. Ifeanyi George scored the only goal from the penalty spot in the 28th minute to hand maximum points to the Peoples Elephant in the tightly-fought match-day 24 contest. Enyimba have now amassed 45 points from 24 matches, two point’s more than second-placed Sunshine Stars.
