Nigerian Artistes and Adele's 'Hello Cover' Syndrome: A Complete Waste of Time

It is with much vexation that I am writing this article, it pains me when I see someone taking his or her time to recreate somebody work or let me say make a cover of someone else's song.
It very annoying, waking up every morning only to hear that another Nigerian artiste has done the cover of Adele song. If Adele could sit down to write and compose a beautiful song like Hello, why can’t these so called Nigerian artistes that are now doing the cover do the same. I am not saying doing a cover of a song is a sin but when it is been done by some of our so called A list artiste then to me that is a sin.

What makes an artiste creative is the amount of time he/she spends creating something unique and original and not recreating what somebody else has created and trying to sound better than that person. In case they don't know creativity is when you create something that others would not only recreate because they like it but also because they appreciate it and they want to be like you.

When I heard Omawunmi's version of Hello I was wow, this is the Omawunmi of In The Music, her vocals was so on point, she blended into the song that at a point I thought probably it was Adele version I was listening to. Now the point is if Omawunmi had sat down to write and compose her own song and she sounded like that I would have loved her for life, instead she completely wasted her time and talent doing a cover.

If Nigerian artistes are doing the cover of a song, there are some certain artistes I wouldn't except that from, Omawunmi and Samklef are part of them. I am even much more angry with Samklef because the bros went ahead to shoot a video. What exactly were you thinking shooting a video to a song you did a cover for, what exactly did you want us to see? And this goes to Praiz too, he also shot a video for his own version, though I must confess I wasn't even surprise that Praiz did a cover because I know him for that, putting his heart and soul into somebody else’s work and doing nonsense when it is time for him to deliver something original.

I must also confess that I have only listened to Omawunmi's version of the Hello cover among the nine or eight that has been done so far and I don't even plan listening to the rest because it is annoying. One bitter truth is that no matter how hard you try, no matter how much you refixed it like bros Samklef called his own, you can’t sound better than Adele with her own track, maybe if you take your time and create your own original sound, you might sound better.
