Guardiola is
set to announce his decision to leave the German champions next week, having
turned down a bumper €20m-a-year deal to stay at the club and Ancelotti, who is
in advanced talks with Bayern over taking the job, is likely to be confirmed as
their new manager soon after.
After being
sacked by Real Madrid last summer, just a year after leading the club to the
Champions League, the Italian has been spending a year away from management. He
suffered a similar fate at Chelsea, where he was removed from his job a year
after winning a league and cup double in west London.
But
the 56-year-old, who has won the European Cup twice as a player and three times
as a manager, is now ready to return to the touchline.
Guardiola
has been at Bayern since 2013, winning back to back Bundesliga titles but
failing to secure a European trophy. He has been linked with a move to
the Premier League this summer, with Manchester
City in pole position to land the former Barcelona boss.
