Former Chelsea and AS Roma player Ashley Cole will link up with former England team-mate Steven Gerrard in America after joining
LA Galaxy on a free transfer.
The former Arsenal and England full-back moves to the MLS side after his
contract was cancelled by Serie A side Roma last week. Cole has not featured
for Roma since March last year and made a total of 16 appearances for the club
since joining from Chelsea in 2014. Cole will also play alongside Republic of
Ireland international Robbie Keane
at LA Galaxy and will come up against former Chelsea team-mate and New York
City midfielder Frank Lampard.
LA Galaxy head coach and general manager Bruce Arena had this to say about Cole “Ashley is one of the world's most successful defenders and has played
at the highest level of competition throughout his career. He can provide our
defense with valuable experience. We look forward to his contribution to our
club this season”
Cole won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups, while he also
tasted Champions League glory with the Blues in 2011-12 and is England's
most capped full-back with 107 appearances.
