Gary Neville Says He Is Not Going To End Up In Management

Gary Neville has ruled out a long-term future in management and says he is relaxed about potentially only spending six months in his job at Valencia.

Neville has been linked with Manchester United and England, but having made clear that he does not see himself in either role within the next six months, he now says his future does not lie as a head coach at all. Talking with Sky Sport Neville said “I'm not going to say where I want to end up, and it isn't in management or head coaching, so I want to be clear about that. That's not my ultimate goal of where I want to be. From my point of view, I was really enjoying what I was doing, I really was, the multiple things I had on, even though I knew it was coming to a point where I had to make decisions at the end of this season. I think it is uncertain the amount of time I'll be here but (even) if I got given a five-year contract I think it would be uncertain about the amount of time I'd be here. That's why I'm relaxed”.

Neville's long-term association to Old Trafford as a player, as well as his position under Roy Hodgson in the international set-up, made him an obvious speculative candidate for both top jobs but the 40-year-old's stance seems to be that his footballing future would lie in other projects. Under Neville, a 2-0 victory over Segunda side Barakaldo in the Copa del Rey was welcomed last month, but the manager admits he is having language problems when leading half-time sessions. “Without a shadow of a doubt the biggest challenge has been half-time, having to communicate through a translator, it's the most frustrating thing,' he said. It's my problem, I knew what I was getting into but that is the biggest frustration and challenge so far” he said.
