Fast And Furious Would Come To An End After 9 And 10

Universal looks set to close the book on its petrolhead saga after nailing down release dates for both Fast & Furious 9 and Fast & Furious 10, which are now set to open on April 19, 2019 and April 2, 2021, respectively.

Official confirmation on the release dates was via Vin Diesel’s Instagram account, who posted a still image, one which would appeared to signal that an end is indeed in sight for Dominic Toretto and his ragtag crew of street racers. For now, details are unsurprisingly scarce regarding Fast and Furious 9 and its equally unsurprising sequel. What is known is that Diesel has teased plans for one final trilogy in the past, and he has become a much more prominent player in Universal’s lucrative franchise after signing on to produce in 2008. Since then, there have even been fleeting reports that he could eventually direct an installment in the series.

As for next year’s Fast 8, Universal and F. Gary Gray are plotting yet another international affair for fans of the blockbuster franchise. While the jury’s still out on whether the Toretto crew will drift into Cuba, word is that Gray has set sights on the Icelandic town of Akranes for an appropriately explosive action sequence. Couple that with racing onto the streets of New York and you have all the makings of a pulse-pounding ride.

Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson are currently a lock for F. Gary Gray’s Fast 8, with the series stalwarts expected to be confirmed in the coming months. Fast and Furious 9 will follow suit in 2019, before Universal closes the book with a tenth and seemingly final movie in 2021. That is, until the spinoffs start to emerge.
