Police has confirmed that Alexa “Lex”
McAllister, who appeared as a contestant on “The Bachelor” in 2010 is dead and they say she died of an apparent
suicide after a drug overdose.
McAllister appeared on season 14 of ABC’s “The Bachelor,” widely considered
by fans to be one of the favorite seasons. The season featured pilot Jake Pavelka. McAllister was eliminated
from the show after the first week. She was 25 when she appeared on the show.
Since being eliminated on “The Bachelor,” the Ohio native worked for a
financial planning company.
A Columbus, Ohio, police spokesperson confirmed that authorities responded
to a call at about 2 p.m. on Saturday, with the caller indicating that
McAllister had overdosed on prescription pills. She was transported to a
hospital in stable condition, but was pronounced dead at 2:39 a.m. on Tuesday
after her health took a turn.
Her family believes McAllister’s death was a suicide as a family member said
that the reality alum has struggled with depression and bipolar disorder. McAllister
is not the first contestant from that particular “Bachelor” season to
reportedly take her own life. Gia
Allemand, a finalist on season 14 of “The Bachelor,” died in 2013 at the
age of 29 after hanging herself.
