NPFL Reschedule Some Week 2 Matches

The Nigeria Professional Football League Match Day 2 fixtures involving Enyimba, Akwa United and Nassarawa United have been rescheduled and this was made known by the website of the Nigeria Football Federation.

The Chief Operating Officer of the League Management Company Salisu Abubakar explained that Match Day 2 fixtures were put on hold at the instance of the clubs involved in continental competitions saying “The clubs were already not in the Match Day 3 fixtures due to their continental fixtures holding on the weekend of February 26-28 but we have received representations from officials of the three clubs pleading to be allowed to focus on their continental fixtures.

The affected games are Akwa United vs Ikorodu United, Enyimba vs Shooting Stars and FC IfeanyiUbah vs Nassarawa United. Nassarawa United will take a 2-1 lead to Senegal to face AS Academie Demonstration Foot and are billed to fly out of the country on Tuesday. Enyimba will host Vipers of Uganda in the second leg of the CAF Champions League after losing the first leg 1-0 in Kampala. Akwa United will host Vita Club de Mokanda of Congo in the return leg tie of the CAF Confederations Cup.
