Rafael Benitez Is The Best Man For The Job As Club Fights Relegation- Newcastle owner

 

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley believes they have the best man in charge in Rafael Benitez, as they look to avoid Premier League relegation. In an exclusive interview the Sports Direct boss insisted that the arrival of former Chelsea and Liverpool manager Benitez in place of Steve McClaren has given the club the best possible chance of staying in the top tier.

He said “I think we've got the right man in the job, If there's any chance of us staying up - let's hope Rafa can do the business and keep us up”. Ashley has come under fire from Newcastle fans angered by their lowly position, leading to repeated calls for him to leave and banners being unfurled at matches but, despite the criticism levelled and poor performances on the field, Ashley remains committed to the club.

Sunday's draw with Sunderland ended a run of three straight defeats for the Magpies, but Ashley revealed he was still a little disappointed with only coming away from the game with a point. He said “It's disappointing, because I personally want to win every game at Newcastle United. It doesn't matter who we're playing - it doesn't matter if it's a friendly. But, yes, I wanted us to win and I'm a little disappointed. But it's not a disaster”.
