HBO Orders Sharp Objects Straight-To-Series
HBO has announced that the
network is ordering 8 episodes of Sharp Objects, originally
published in 2006, with Amy Adams set to star. Amy Adams will play Camille Preaker, a journalist from Chicago
recovering from a few years of self-harm that ultimately led her into a
psychiatric hospital. But, like most of Flynn’s works, something else is going
on, and soon enough Camille has to fly back to her hometown in Missouri to get
to the bottom of a teenage girl’s murder.
Most excitingly, HBO’s adaptation will be headed up by Marti Noxon, Noxon has already written the pilot and will be
showrunner on the series, with Flynn
herself stepping in to write a few scripts. To further ensure that this doesn’t
turn into another Dark Places,
Jean-Marc Vallée has been hired to
direct and co-edit every episode.
HBO gave no release window for Sharp Objects, or hinted at
other possibilities of the cast that will be joining Adams on the show.
