Suicide Squad Director David Ayer Expresses Interest In An R-Rated Sequel

Based on information it’s clear that Suicide Squad is going to take us to some very dark and twisted places and that would explain why many fans assumed it would receive an R-Rating. Talking in a recent interview, Suicide Squad director David Ayer confirmed that there were never any plans to go down the route of making this movie with an R.

He said “For an R movie, you have to decide to do it right out the gate, and that was never the case here. We were always going to hit the PG-13 rating. But the film is meant to be that. It’s got edge, and it’s got attitude. And it’s got its own voice… There’s a lot in the film that’s going to surprise people.”

Don’t give up hope of seeing an R-Rated Joker on the big screen in the near future though, as Ayer added that a sequel utilizing that rating, “would be worth lobbying for.”
