Manchester City Close In On £19.3m Ilkay Gundogan Deal

 
Manchester City expect to agree a four-year contract with Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund and are closing in on a deal for Real Sociedad goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli. Gundogan has been eager to join up with Pep Guardiola and his decision has been hardened by City's continued show of support following his recent knee injury.

Rulli, 24, has been followed by City for over three years and Guardiola wants to bring him in this summer as competition for England's Joe Hart. Rulli is Argentinian but has an Italian passport. He is on loan at Sociedad from Uruguayan club Deportivo Maldonado and has attracted interest from Barcelona and Valencia in recent seasons.

City had considered an ambitious move for Marc-Andre Ter Stegen at Barcelona but the German wants to stay and Barcelona were reluctant to sell for less than £40m. Man City are also in the running to sign midfielder Oleksandr Zinchenko (left) as they look to strengthen Aymeric Laporte is also in talks with Man City having been a long term target for Premier League outfit City also remain in discussions about Ukraine midfielder Oleksandr Zinchenko from Ufa and Aymeric Laporte at Athletic Bilbao.

Guardiola, meanwhile, is expected to confirm Mikel Arteta as his assistant coach in the coming weeks.
