Giampiero Ventura To Replace Antonio Conte As Italy Manager

Italy have ended their search for Antonio Conte's replacement by appointing Giampiero Ventura, who will take over as head coach after Euro 2016.  Conte announced in March that he was stepping down from his position with the national team following Euro 2016, which paved the way for him to join Chelsea on a three-year deal.

Ventura began his managerial career with Sampdoria's youth team in 1976 and has taken charge of 17 Italian sides in total, including Udinese, Napoli and Torino. He left Torino last month after five successful seasons, the first of which saw him lead the club back to Serie A, and has since been replaced by Sinisa Mihajlovic.

The appointment allows Italy to turn their attention to Euro 2016, with Belgium waiting in their Group E opener on June 13, and they also face Sweden and the Republic of Ireland in the group stages.
